Duke Heart Failure Symposium: Leading Edge in Medical Management

The overall purpose of this event is to discuss advances in heart failure (HF) care to enhance learners’ knowledge and competency to incorporate evidence-based updates in clinical practice. A variety of recent developments in the field of HF therapies, including novel drugs, new devices, and care innovations inform the current effort to improve HF education and refine approaches to disease management for clinicians. Physicians and other practitioners must be armed with the most up-to-date evidence to guide best treatments and improve the prognosis for patients with heart failure.

This program is designed to meet the continuing education (CE) needs of cardiologists, nurses, pharmacists, and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of heart failure patients.

• Engage in a dynamic panel discussion on current treatment strategies for chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. Delve into emerging pharmacologic therapies, updated treatment paradigms, and associated challenges.
• Review and discuss best practices for diagnosing and managing HFpEF
• Review and discuss best practices for managing worsening heart failure events, emphasizing acute treatment strategies to prevent rehospitalization and improve the natural history of the disease, including medication and subcutaneous diuretic approaches.
• Discuss diagnostic and treatment strategies for restrictive cardiomyopathies, aiming to enhance clinical outcomes and disease trajectory. Raise awareness about precision cardiomyopathy programs.
• Recognize challenges during care transitions and discuss multidisciplinary strategies for enhancing care coordination, including considerations for costs and access to new heart failure medications and strategies for follow-up care.
• Discuss the role of interventional and device management in acute and chronic heart failure.
• Discuss the current practices to assess and track congestion status. Review methods current best practice for Remote Monitoring.
• Discuss the changing landscape of cardiometabolic care including anti-diabetic and weight loss management.
• Discuss best timing of advanced heart failure workup. Review current standards in advanced heart failure management.
