The tropics hurricane season still ongoing. Far western portion of the atlantic that a 60% chance of tropical weather development over the next 5 days expected to become a tropical depression. And this is what the gfs forecast model has. Look, there's a lot of different forecast models that bring this system either straight back out to sea or it could do what this was about to show you right now. This one is probably the more likely scenario where becomes a little more tropical gain some tropical characteristics. They're in the far western atlantic. This is as we get on into tuesday and slides westward, bringing some heavy rain, 2 florida into the northeastern gulf of mexico. Then where it goes from there. It's anybody's guess really at this point, if it even makes it this direction, several different forecast models was several, several different outputs. Thanks, lance. >> Well, the cdc says there's a big increase in respiratory illnesses like the flu and rsv health officials gave a briefing yesterday afternoon. They say hospitalization rates for the flu are the highest they've seen in a decade. Cases of rsv also surging. Now rsv is a virus that usually causes minimal symptoms like cough or scratchy throat. But it can be very severe in older adults and infants. Parents of very young children should stay cautious. >> If they stop feeding stop taking fluids, look lethargic and sick. And certainly if they have any difficulty breathing, contact your healthcare provider. >> Experts say vaccination against the flu and covid is the number one way to protect children. November is lung cancer awareness month. It is the number one cancer killer in the U.S. and worldwide cbs 17. Liz ortiz tells us why health experts are urging people to get a lung cancer screening before it's too late. Taking a stand against lung cancer. It's a disease that kills thousands of people each year in the united states, lung cancer kills more women than >> Cancer and colon cancer combined >> And from and kills more men, then prostate cancer and colon cancer combined. Doctor buddy tom is a professor of surgery at duke university medical center. She says there are a number of risk factors for lung cancer, including smoking and a family. History is important to remember that about one out of 5 cases of lung cancer happen to people who don't smoke cigarettes and don't have a history of cigarette smoking exposure. >> That being said, people with a history of smoking cigarettes are most at risk for lung cancer. And we have a screening methods for people who do have a history of smoking cigarettes. The recent american lung association survey shows nearly 70% of americans are not familiar with the availability of lung cancer screening for early detection guidelines now recommend screening for people between age 50 80 with a 20 pack year smoking history. >> Current smokers or ones who have quit within the last 15 years. It's a cask. And so it's an open to the screenings can literally takes about 5 minutes to do and doesn't require any needles or ids pretty painless. Doctor tang says the main goal is long-term survival. And that's why early detection is key to show you when we diagnose and treat. >> Cancers in their earliest stages, the patients have a far better chance of surviving over the long term.
