In this Healio video exclusive, the co-producer of the Heart Rhythm Society’s inaugural HRX meeting on digital health advancements discusses the purpose of the event and some of its highlights.

The meeting “was able to bring together the full spectrum of stakeholders in digital health and cardiovascular diseases to connect and share thoughts that were patient-centered,” said Sana M. Al-Khatib, MD, professor of medicine at Duke University School of Medicine and director of the Clinical Fellowship Program at Duke Clinical Research Institute.

Many of the topics, such as remote monitoring, were germane to electrophysiology, but “we certainly extended well beyond ... to cover other areas in cardiovascular disease, and had great perspectives,” she said.

Some notable topics included wearable devices, machine learning and health equity, “where we talked about technologies that can help assure and promote health equity,” Al-Khatib said. “A great discussion took place on disparities in care and how to prevent the digital divide.”
